Tuesday night, the West Fork summer sports teams hosted Hampton-Dumont-CAL in a Highway 65 battle at the ballpark. The HD-CAL baseball team trailed 2-1 entering the fourth inning and heated up at the plate with an eight run rally between the fourth and fifth innings, the Warhawks scored twice in the seventh but the Bulldogs were able to close the door on their second win in a row 9-6.

HD-CAL Head Baseball Coach Matt Lokenvitz noted the performance of starting pitching in recent wins and intensity at the plate provided by Brody Walton and Cael Burmester.

“Our first back-to-back wins that we put together, so we’re looking to keep adding to that,” says Lokenvitz. “The last about five or six games, our starters have been great, we’ve had a lot of complete games and a lot of guys going fifth and sixth inning. Tonight, Robertson works himself into the seventh inning. Really kudos to our staff there. We have a lot of games we’re playing this week, we have five games, we need to be able to relax our bullpen a little bit. Our starters giving us two big starts this week. Brody Walton, Cael, they’re both batting over .400 on the year, it’s good to see.”

The Bulldogs were led by Brody Walton with two RBI’s and four other Bulldogs drove in a run apiece. Brody Robertson earned the win on the mound allowing four runs, with five strikeouts in six innings. Cam Peil locked down the save with two strikeouts in the seventh.
