The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that the coverage area of no drought conditions in Iowa dropped in the past week to 69-point-17 percent.

In turn, the abnormally dry category increased from over 16 percent last week to almost 31 percent this week.

Even with an increase in the abnormally dry coverage area, Iowa is still officially out of the drought.

One year ago, less than 1 percent of Iowa was drought free.
