The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bird Busters trapshooting team will host a year end fun shoot at Stockdale Gun Club on Thursday.
Assistant Coach Rex Carr noted some of the fun trapshooting activities at the year end event.
“We will have games such as Annie Oakley, which is a competition who can shoot the bird faster,” says Carr. “We will have singles, some doubles and handicap shooting. Handicap is going way back in yardage and trying to break those birds when they’re way out there. It is a lot of fun. Please come and join the fun and see what trap shooting has to offer.”
All current members and those interested in joining the team will have one round of shells and clays provided. For family, friends and coaches shells and clays will be available for purchase.
Carr says he is proud of this driven group and their prepared to take on each new goal.
“As these athletes progress in their chosen field, the increments of success become smaller and they’re really harder to achieve and to maintain. Many times I’ll ask an individual, what can you do to get just one more bird? They always have an answer for me. That is how everybody achieves excellence in anything that they’re striving for in life. I’m so very proud of them all.”
The event will also include the presentation of year end awards. Pizza, drinks and dessert bars will also be provided.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Stockdale Gun Club in Ackley.
