Iowa housing market in May brought stability

Housing inventory continued to bloom in May as the Iowa housing market saw an increase in available homes for sale.

According to the Iowa Association of REALTORS, new home inventory increased 4-point-7 percent in May from the 4,068 homes listed in April.

Sales continued to trend upward in May with 3,306 homes sold, a 3-point-9 percent increase from last year’s 3,183 recorded home sales.

Days on the market increased 4-point-9 percent to 43 days in May compared to the 41 days one year ago.

The median sales price jumped 5-point-8 percent in May to 238-thousand dollars from the 225-thousand dollar median price last year at this time.
