Amazon Set to Reduce Plastic Waste

Good news for recyclers, and those just looking to reduce their waste.  Amazon has announced they will eliminate 95% of single use box fillers from it’s packaging in North America.  They will likely be air pillow free by next year.  This came after the non profit group Oceana estimated Amazon created 208 million pounds of plastic waste in 2022 alone.  The company claims they will remove nearly 15 billion plastic air pillows form circulation.  This will be less plastic waste for you and our environment.

Even though the air pillows created less waste than traditional bubble wrap, the air pillows still create unwanted plastic waste.  They will now replace with recycled paper to fill space in shipping boxes.  They even stated it helps cushion products better than the plastic.  Hooray for better options and less plastic waste.
