The Clarksville summer sports teams will host BCLUW in Iowa Star crossover games Monday.

The #13 (1A) softball team would clinch its eighth straight Iowa Star-North championship with a win. The Indians (14-7, 10-1 ISC) are coming off a 5-1 win over Don Bosco Friday, where crisp defense was the difference. In the current six-game win streak, they’ve held opponents to one or fewer runs three times. Head Coach Katie Burman says the team is hitting its stride amid a tough schedule.

“I think it’s gonna do nothing but help us,” Burman says. “I told the girls, don’t think about our record, because we hung with Ankeny 4-0. We beat 3A, 4A teams down at Fort Dodge, and I just think it’s gonna help us in the postseason, let alone with our confidence, just them knowing that we can hang with teams like that. And I think we’re definitely at our peak. All of our girls are confident in their spots.”

BCLUW (12-12, 8-4 ISC) is coming off a 1-3 outing at a tournament at Marshalltown on Friday and Saturday. In their last game, they beat Grundy Center 2-0. Callie Swanson bats .426 to lead the Comets and Klayre Gallentine has been one of the league’s most effective pitchers. Clarksville has won the last three meetings. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.

The Clarksville baseball team (1-15, 0-13 ISC) will look to snap an 11-game losing streak. Last week, they were effective offensively in a 13-10 loss to Baxter, but they gave up seven runs in the sixth inning. Camden Behrends led with three hits and two RBIs.
BCLUW (5-12, 5-9 ISC) is led by Cael Keller, who bats .483 to lead the conference. They won by forfeit over North Tama Thursday, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

The game will start at 5:15 p.m.
