The Aplington-Parkersburg summer sports teams will play in separate locations Wednesday. The baseball team will host the regular season finale against Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The softball team will play a non-conference game at South Tama.

The baseball team (14-7) will return to action for the first time since Monday’s 8-2 win at Dunkerton. Tuesday’s game against Alburnett was cancelled due to weather. Having won two straight, the Falcons will look to carry momentum into the postseason.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (3-19) has lost four straight, including a 9-1 loss at Jesup Monday. Tuesday’s game with Dunkerton was cancelled. Drew Eilers leads with a .320 average. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.

Originally scheduled to be the softball regular season finale, the softball team will have another opportunity due to the addition of a game at Jesup on Monday, July 8. The Falcons (9-12) are coming off Monday’s 11-1, five-inning win over BCLUW, where Ada Switzer hit two of the team’s three home runs. A win would clinch the program’s first double-digit win season since 2013.

Winless South Tama (0-27) has had six straight games end early due to the runs-ahead rule. The team bats .172 with a 15.09 ERA. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.
