This week the Grundy Center City Council considered dropping the police department and instead going with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement coverage of the city.

The vote was 3-2 to keep the police department.

The Grundy Center City Council also authorized the annual wages for city employees by giving a 10 percent pay raise to the police and ambulance departments, and a 5 percent wage increase for the remaining city employees, for the new fiscal year which began Monday.
