A former Grundy Center firefighter, who was alleged to have set a string of fires, was sentenced this week for up to 25 years in prison.

The state claimed Kendall Rhoades would start a fire and then respond to it with the fire department.

Rhoades pleaded guilty to 2 counts of arson, which carried a sentence of 20 years.

He received 5 more years for an unrelated domestic abuse case. Rhoades was on probation for this case at the time of the fires.
