This week the Iowa Department of Natural Resources entered into an administrative consent order with POET Biorefining of Shell Rock.
The consent order calls for POET to pay all emission fees for 2021 and 2022, submit all permit-required information on air contaminant sources and related control equipment, and to make all necessary facility changes as required by the Prevention of Significant Deterioration construction permit when issued.
The order also calls for POET to pay a 10-thousand dollar administrative penalty.
POET Shell Rock is a dry-mill grain processing facility that produces 140 million gallons of denatured ethanol a year.
