The annual Drive for Dollars Golf Outing at the Hampton Country Club is Saturday. Helping organize the event are 2002 Hampton-Dumont alums Kevin Fridley, Michael Kuehner, and Seth Johnson.

Michael Kuehner highlights how the event got started and that it provides another reason for people to come back and support.

It’s something that I really enjoyed being a part of and some of my former classmates who help me out do as well,” says Kuehner. “It was kind of born of a conversation at our 15 year class reunion a few years back where we decided to start a scholarship to honor a classmate of ours that we lost back in 1997, Jeremy Hagensack. Then from there, we started with just a scholarship for one year and then it kind of grew as time went on. We thought a golf tournament would be a great way not only to raise money but give people a reason to come back to Hampton and support the community and support the school.”

The money raised will be donated to Jeremy Hagensack scholarship, will be used to help buy software program for the school, help pay for activity passes for students and help with operations of HD Scholarship Foundation.

Gary Dolphin, the voice of Iowa football and men’s basketball is scheduled to be in attendance.

Kuehner says organizers are looking forward to having the Iowa broadcasting legend take part in the event.

I’m really excited to have Gary involved. I’ve worked with Gary in the past on some other charitable events and so I gave him a call and it took him about 30 seconds to say that he’d love to be involved. We’re looking forward to having him there. He’s an Iowa broadcasting legend and is just a really, really great guy.”

Signed items by ISU quarterback Rocco Becht and wide receiver Jaylin Noel, a Vikings helmet signed by former Iowa Hawkeye TJ Hockenson, vintage Hampton-Dumont memorabilia and more will be included in a silent auction at the clubhouse. The silent auction is open to the public.

Tee off is Saturday at noon at the Hampton Country Club.
