The West Fork softball team fell 4-0 to Lisbon in a Class 2A consolation game on Wednesday afternoon.

After a 90 minute weather delay, the game resumed in the bottom of the first inning. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, Lisbon broke the scoreless tie on a two run home run by Chloe Clausen to left center field. After loading the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning, Lisbon added two more runs on a pair of RBI singles, to make the score 4-0. West Fork had their best scoring chance of the day in the top of the seventh with two runners on and no outs but was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. The Warhawks were held to one hit in the contest.

Head Coach Sadie Winfrey says the team has a lot to be proud of and the future is bright.

“It was just a really fun experience, I’m so happy that they got to go especially the seniors,” says Winfrey. “I think it can just be held as an expectation now for West Fork Softball and the underclassmen. I told them that it was hard for me to cry because I’m so happy. I hope that their happiness from this overcomes some of that sadness because they should be very proud of themselves. If they continue to work hard, as we learned a lot this season, we can take that and make changes, add things for next season, I think this can continue.”

Libby Trewin for the Warhawks worked six innings allowing four earned runs with nine strikeouts.

West Fork ends its first-ever run to state at 19-9 overall.
