Clarksville Softball sophomore Paige Kampman has been recognized as an E. Wayne Cooley “You Can” Award winner by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

The award, named after longtime IGHSAU Executive Secretary E. Wayne Cooley illustrates the qualities of determination, character and the values of pursuing victory with honor. The student-athletes are nominated by their head coaches.

In Coach Katie Burman’s nomination, she said Kampman shows all the characteristics for the award: trustworthy, respectful, caring, and responsible. Burman says Kampman demonstrated great character while enduring a season of no playing time due to an ACL tear suffered in the winter. Burman said Kampman showed up to practices and all games with high spirits and determination to be valuable to the team in any way she could.
