South Hardin Softball freshman Kaitlynn Dickes has been recognized as an E. Wayne Cooley “You Can” Award winner by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
The award, named after longtime IGHSAU Executive Secretary E. Wayne Cooley illustrates the qualities of determination, character and the values of pursuing victory with honor. The student-athletes are nominated by their head coaches.
In Coach Becky Rosonke’s nomination, she says Dickes showed commitment to bouncing back after an injury kept her from fully practicing early in the season. She became the designated player and third baseman after showing promise as a pinch hitter. Rosonke said most importantly, Dickes is an excellent teammate and excels in her passion for the game and work ethic.
