Aplington-Parkersburg Softball senior Lauren Carney has been recognized as an E. Wayne Cooley “You Can” Award winner by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
The award, named after longtime IGHSAU Executive Secretary E. Wayne Cooley illustrates the qualities of determination, character and the values of pursuing victory with honor. The student-athletes are nominated by their head coaches.
In Coach Emily Williamson’s nomination, Williamson said Carney works hard and is always looking for ways to bring the other girls together as a team, and that she also sees the value in having fun playing the game with her teammates.
