This week the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution objecting to the Iowa Utility Commission’s authority to enact eminent domain authority within the county for privately owned and operated carbon dioxide pipelines.

Cerro Gordo County does not believe Summit meets the “public use” requirement of the Fifth Amendment, which means that the government should not arbitrarily take one person’s private rights and transfer it to another person simply for private economic gain.

In other business, the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors authorized the board chair to sign a contract with Tjaden Electric Company, LLC for the jail integrated control system upgrade.
