The Aplington-Parkersburg softball team recently capped off a 10-14 season that featured exponential growth compared to previous years.
Head Coach Emily Williamson says the senior class helped lead the charge that has the program on the rise.
“For us to put together a season like this to see the seniors out, I’m just proud of all the girls,” Williamson says. “Just excited about where Falcon Softball is headed. We need to continue to get support, continue to get players out, keep getting parents and fans excited and we’re going up from here.”
The win total was the most since 2013, and was a bounce back from two straight 3-21 seasons. The .306 batting average was the best since a 12-game season in 2020.
The team is expected to return this year’s top four batters, including sophomore all-district selection Eva Walker, who batted .534 to lead the team and the NICL-Central.
The team will lose two seniors, shortstop Kendall Riherd and second baseman Lauren Carney.
