Several Iowa communities will be hosting National Night Out events Tuesday as a way for law enforcement to connect with their local community.

Rockwell will host its third National Night Out and Rockwell Police Chief, Cody Brunstein, tells RadioOnTheGo News why it’s important for law enforcement to build a relationship with the public.

“It’s kind of important getting the community to come out to interact with the law enforcement agencies that will be there. Again, like me, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, ISP Iowa State Patrol, will be there. It’s just great for the community members to be able to interact with us as a whole and kind of see what we do on a daily basis. Any questions that they have, they can ask us while we’re out there.”

The Rockwell Fire Department will host a water demonstration during Tuesday’s event. Other activities include a school supplies giveaway, an alcohol impairment simulator hosted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and a donut eating contest.

National Night Out in Rockwell will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zeidler Park. RadioOnTheGo will be broadcasting live from the event starting around 4:20 p.m. For more information on National Night Out, visit natw.org.
