Iowa crops in crucial growing stages

The latest Iowa Crop Report from the USDA shows that as of Sunday, corn silking reached 92 percent, 5 days behind last year, but equal to the 5-year average.

51 percent of the corn crop has reached the dough stage or beyond, 3 days ahead of the 5-year average. 8 percent of the corn crop reached the dent stage.

Corn condition was rated 77 percent good to excellent.

90 percent of the soybeans were blooming, one week behind last year, but 1 day ahead of the normal.

Soybeans setting pods reached 58 percent, 5 days behind last year and 3 days behind the five-year average.

Soybean condition was 76 percent good to excellent.
