The Iowa Economic Development Authority this week named Boone and Indianola as the newest Main Street Iowa communities.
Main Street is a program designed to help with downtown revitalization efforts.
There are now 53 Main Street Iowa communities in the program.
Since its inception in 1985, the Main Street Iowa program has generated more than 2-point-5-billion dollars in private investment, more than 5-thousand new businesses, and 16-thousand jobs.
Other Main Street Iowa programs can be found in Hampton, Iowa Falls, Grundy Center, Waverly and Mason City.
