Last night just before 10 o’clock the Alexander Fire Department was called out on the report of a fire at a hog confinement building at 20-70 Cardinal Avenue northeast of Alexander. No injuries reported.

The fire was confined to the west side of the building, where some animals died.

Firefighters were on the scene for almost 2 hours.

The cause appears to be electrical in nature as a fan motor overheated.

Assisting agencies were the fire departments from Latimer and Meservey, Belmond Ambulance, West Franklin EMS, and Franklin County Emergency Management.
