North Butler Returns Great Potential for Fall Season

nb

North Butler has begun fall sports practices, Activities Director Austin Guerrero on the potential that each team brings into the new season.

We’re just excited with what we have developing right now in all of our athletic programs and just as a school as a whole,” says Guerrero. “Football had a successful season last year making the playoffs and we’re looking to build off that again. Our cross country program is running strong several years in a row now, we got several kids coming back looking to build off of it and get back to the state meet. Our volleyball program is heading in the right direction and we have a head coach with a year under her belt continuing to gain experience. Our girls are excited to see where we can take them to start our school year off strong.”

Guerrero says student-athlete buy-in to offseason work is a confidence booster.

We had really great numbers this offseason and really good buy-in from our student athletes and our school as a whole. We’re excited about the progress we made this offseason, this summer, and having numbers higher than we’ve had in that weight room for a while. Hopefully that just leads to more confidence in one another, ourselves, and as a team. We look forward to putting that work we put in the offseason into everything as an athletic department.”

Guerrero in addition to responsibilities as activities director, also is the head coach of boys basketball and softball. He says great support from fellow staff and community has been a difference maker.

Every day might pose different challenges, but we have a lot of helpful people in the school district. My administration team is awesome, they support me 100%. We just have great people in the North Butler community. When there’s a challenge, there’s a bunch of different hands and people stepping in to help with the challenge. Every day is just another opportunity to get better, improve, and help the school district become what we want it to be. We continue to strive to be better every day.”

The first athletic event of the school year will be a volleyball match vs Northwood-Kensett on Thursday, August 29th.
