The chairman of the Franklin County Republican Central Committee Larry Sailer tells Radio on the Go News that he strongly condemns the content of flyers placed on the doors of Hispanic businesses in Hampton earlier this week.

“To me, it’s a bit of a hate crime, and I just strongly condemn it as chair of the Franklin County Republican Party. There’s just no room for this. It’s just a way to try to divide people, and that’s really not what we do. Down in small town Iowa, we work pretty well together. There’s a lot of great people. I’m color blind. It doesn’t matter to me what color they are. If they’re good people, you know, they go to church, they have good families. We just appreciate the people that we have in our community.”

The flyers read in part: USA Illegal Immigrant Hunting Permit, no bag limit and tagging not required.
The bottom reads: Trump 2024.

“People know what’s going on. This poster didn’t do either party, any party, any good. Just not how we operate. We want to operate on the issues, have a discussion, talk to everybody.”

Franklin County Democratic Party Chairperson Catherine Crooks provided the following statement to Radio on the Go News about the situation.

She says, “I am saddened and deeply concerned to learn about the hate crime that has taken place in Hampton targeting Hispanics.  The Franklin County Democrats support and stand by our Hispanic neighbors.  I urge everyone to do the same, as these families add a great deal to our communities.  This serves as a reminder to vote for representatives who portray your values and standards.  I call on all community members, leaders, and public officials to reject hate in all forms, and to promote unity and respect.  Hate has no home here.”
