The Belmond-Klemme football team will have a new head coach this season as offensive coordinator Josh Faaborg steps up to lead the team.

Faaborg says he is excited about the team and the community support has been great.

“A great group of kids that we have as well as the coaches moving forward as a program,” says Faaborg. “Hopefully our objectives of putting some wins in the column, competing at a much higher level and creating some consistency. We look forward at the challenges to come. Very excited about the group that we have. The community support has really been second to none. People are getting excited increasingly, I think, about B-K football.”

Faaborg is a 2008 alumnus of Wartburg College where he also played football all four years. He has been a part of the B-K football coaching staff the last few seasons.

Faaborg on coaching with family and experience with the program.

“My wife, Leigh, is the volleyball coach, so we got two head coach jobs going this fall, which is a lot of fun and pretty busy as you can imagine. I worked in the box underneath my father-in-law, Darwin Christensen, who was the B-K head coach for a number of years. I got a lot of good experience there working with him, he brings a wealth of knowledge. We’re fortunate to also have him on staff with us again here.

Faaborg details key concepts of his coaching approach.

We ask for great attitude and effort from our kids, day in and day out, as well as our coaching staff. If you boil it down at the highest level, we feel like we’re improving those two things every day and we continue to raise our bar and focus on ourselves and getting better. That’s really our philosophy at this point, how we’re moving forward day in and day out.”

Belmond-Klemme will take part in a three team scrimmage against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and Lake Mills on Friday. The Broncos kickoff the season by hosting North Butler on Friday, August 30th.
