Hardin County opponents will meet Tuesday to begin the volleyball season when Iowa Falls-Alden hosts #5 (2A) South Hardin.
Coming off last year’s 35-9 season that featured a regional final appearance, the Tigers are on the verge of being known as one of Iowa’s best teams. They have six starters back from last year, including kills leader Ava Salvo at outside hitter and Ava Paige at setter. A deep roster includes eight players who regularly played last year, and the majority of the offensive production.
Coming off last year’s 10-25 season, the Cadets will look to take a step forward under first-year head coach Betsy Dunphy. They have three starters back, including second and third kill leaders Alivia Tupper and Carlea Dagel. Makayla Howland is also back after some reps at setter.
It’ll be the third straight season the teams will open their seasons against each other. South Hardin has swept the last two meetings.
The match will air on 99 The Wave at 7:30 p.m., with pregame coverage starting at 7:20.
