The #6 (2A) Dike-New Hartford volleyball team began its season by going 1-2 at a quad at #5 (5A) Ankeny Tuesday. The Wolverines defeated North Polk 2-0, and fell 2-0 to both Ankeny and #1 (1A) Ankeny Christian.
Against Ankeny Christian, the Wolverines lost a regular season match for the first time in nearly two years. The Eagles won 25-13, 25-22.
The Wolverines notched a win by quickly taking care of North Polk. DNH won by set scores of 25-17, 25-15.
Ankeny led by as many as 11 in set 1 before holding in for a 25-18 win. After a back-and-forth start to set 2, Ankeny pulled away for a 25-17 win to earn the sweep.
At 1-2, the Wolverines will return to action Saturday at a tournament hosted by #3 (5A) Ankeny Centennial.
