The West Fork volleyball team after graduating eight seniors last season has retooled with nine seniors this season and will look to rise in its standing in the Top of Iowa East Conference and Class 2A.
Head Coach Emily Greimann on this year’s senior group and team energy ahead of their first match.
“They are a great bunch. They come in and they lead the others and are always wanting to get better and always asking, what can I do to improve, they’re setting that tone for the younger girls. It’s been amazing,” says Greimann. “They earn those spots and I’m excited to see what they do this year. One thing that I’ve noticed consistently is just the energy that the whole team is bringing at all levels. They show up early, they stay late, they’re ready to go. We move through things quickly. They’re just very competitive and it’s been a lot of fun.”
Senior Brylie Hubka with 90 kills and 79 digs last season has the most among returners. Junior Abby Schoning returns with the most assists with 101 last season.
Greimann on pace of play and what this team can achieve.
“One thing that I want to see from them is just continuous, full effort from start to finish and that fast-paced volleyball system. That’s kind of what we’re going for, to be scrappy and just keep playing. They have it in them to be with those top dogs and that’s what we’re trying to prove this year. Come out and support and we’re excited to see what they do.”
The Warhawks will host Hampton-Dumont-CAL in their season opener on Thursday.
