The Minnesota State Fair started August 22nd and hit a record for opening day attendance. The fair reported that 138,875 people came through the gates Thursday. Friday saw 171,233 people attend the fair. But it was an all time low on Monday of 80,546. Mostly due to the morning and afternoon heat index of over 100 degrees. Then severe thunderstorms hit the area, causing many to flee or hunker down in the buildings. While there are some videos online of teens playing in the flood waters while others commented on the bacteria that would be in the waters, but I’m sure any country kid will be totally fine. The fair grounds saw some major flooding and even damage to vendor and food booths caused by the rain and extreme winds. Forcing a late start the next day due to damage and clean up. Hopefully they can end on a good note so everyone can have a safe and happy time at the fair.
