The #8 (2A) Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball team did not drop a single set in Saturday’s tournament at St. Edmond. The Falcons won all five matches for a 5-0 start to the season.
In the opener, the Falcons held off Pocahontas Area 21-12, 21-19. Peyton Klooster led with eight kills and the team recorded nine aces.
They dominated St. Edmond 21-10, 21-9, a match where Klooster had 10 kills and Zoey Uhlenhopp added six. Adri Allan had three blocks.
In the most lopsided win of the day, the Falcons defeated Bishop Garrigan 21-6, 21-10. Klooster and Uhlenhopp each had seven kills, and the team connected on a remarkable 57.5 percent of attacks.
The Falcons defeated Southeast Valley 21-16, 21-5 in a tale of two sets. Klooster and Uhlenhopp had six and five kills, respectively. The team recorded a season-high eight blocks.
In the final match of the day, the Falcons defeated Webster City 21-11, 21-16. Klooster and Uhlenhopp had eight kills apiece, and Kolbie Wangsness added seven.
The Falcons will continue their season Tuesday at a triangular at #3 (1A) North Tama, where they’ll also face Valley Lutheran. The Crusaders are 0-2 and the Redhawks are 4-5 against mostly ranked opponents.
