Belmond-Klemme Football to Visit #3(A)West Hancock on Friday

The Belmond-Klemme football team will have its first road test of the season as they begin Class A district play at #3(A) West Hancock on Friday. 

Belmond-Klemme, at 0-1 lost a tight game 14-8 at home to North Butler last week. The Broncos touchdown against the Bearcats was a defensive score by senior Jose Alfaro. 

B-K Head Coach Josh Faaborg on facing a top program like the Eagles on the road.

“You know what you’re going to get, you’re going to get a well coached team, a lot of effort, and great execution when you go up to their place,” says Faaborg. “Always a tough place to play. They have a great following, a great community and a lot of fans come out obviously to watch a perennial powerhouse. We’ll be ready to go. We’re excited again for the challenge. Can’t wait for Friday night.”

West Hancock, at 1-0 held on for a 22-20 win at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura last week. The Eagles in the win were led by their rushing attack through senior Brady Bixel who had 102 yards and two touchdowns.

The Broncos will look to get there offense going against the Eagles behind returning leaders, sophomore quarterback Brody Heifner who had five touchdowns and senior running back Aiden Friedow who had three touchdowns last season. 

Faaborg on keys to establishing offensive consistency. 

“We have got to establish the run first. We’re going to spend a lot of time on that this week, just making sure we’ve got the right guys in the right spots and that they have all the knowledge and tools that they need to be successful. Really it just comes down to continuing to rep it and fine tune the little things that we need to get better on to find success in our offense.”

Belmond-Klemme will look for first win in the series since 2017, as the Eagles have won three straight.
