Today 30-year-old Nathan Bahr, formerly of Iowa Falls, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the May 26th, 2023 murder of 25-year-old Desiree Folsom in Eldora.

On July 11th, a Hardin County jury found Bahr guilty of first degree murder for shooting Folsom, who was from Iowa Falls.

Hardin County District Court Judge John Flynn today denied Bahr’s request for a new trial, then proceeded to sentencing. Before sentencing, the court heard victim impact statements by the victim’s family.

When handing down the life sentence, Flynn addressed Bahr, stating “you executed her in cold blood”, and this is “one of the most senseless, heinous acts I’ve ever seen.”

Bahr rarely looked up during the 30 minute hearing, showed no emotion, and declined to make a statement when given the opportunity.
