Aplington-Parkersburg alum Will Steege of the Hawkeye Community College golf team was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s Male Golf Athlete of the Week for the week of August 26 through September 1.

At the Duane Chanay Invite in Coal Valley, Illinois, the sophomore shot a career low -4 (71-67) to win the individual medalist by six strokes. It was Steege’s first collegiate individual win. He only scored one birdie in his first 18 holes, but recorded seven in the second 18. He won the event by five strokes and helped his team to a second place finish.
Steege and the Redtails will return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Fall Statesmen Invite in Oskaloosa.
