Several local cross country teams will compete at Tuesday’s Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic hosted by Waverly-Shell Rock. Aplington-Parkersburg, Clarksville and Grundy Center will join a field of schools of various enrollment classes from several conferences.
Grundy Center enters with some contenders. Emerson Vokes is the 4th-ranked runner in Class 2A, and enters with the second-best time among the field. He’s coming off a winning time of 16:32.2 at last week’s Pine Lake Run hosted by South Hardin.
Spartan junior Grace Storjohann has the fifth-best time in the girls field at 22:29.7, which placed fourth at the Pine Lake Run.
The first varsity race will be at 6:00 p.m. at Max Championship Cross Country Course on the Wartburg campus.
