The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie is currently in theaters receiving mostly positive reviews. After the original came out in 1988, the sequel stars the original cast members, decades later. Bringing back Tim Burton to direct, Michael Keaton in the staring role, as well all Wynonna Rider and Catherine O’Hara, made this movie a deserving sequel. I had the pleasure to catch this movie in theaters last weekend. I highly recommend it as a 7/10. Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies of all time and watch it at least twice a year. Now, news has come out that a sequel to the Goonies is in production. Also, with returning actors in reprising their roles. Coming out in 1985, it is a favorite among people young and old at the time. I hope this gets the creative direction it deserves. Slated to release in theaters Summer of 2026 Similarly, Happy Gilmore just started production on a sequel that the original movie that came out in 1996. Created and staring Adam Sandler. This also was a huge hit of it’s time. A few actors have signed to reprise their roles as well. Sadly two of the actors from the original have since passed on. This will be a direct to Netflix movie. While Hollywood seems to have run out of original ideas, I am hoping the sequels to decades old favorites are given the time, budget, and care they deserve instead of a quick money grab. Which the new Beetlejuice is a good sign. I can’t say enough about not only the acting, but set design as well. It looks so close to the original, its hard to imagine some of the sets are not the same but recreated from stills of the film. So fingers crossed these sequels have the stuff to live up to their name.
