The Dike-New Hartford cross country team will race for just the second time this season when it travels to North Fayette Valley for the Bob Scott Invitational.
The girls team is coming off an eighth place finish at last week’s Pine Lake Run at South Hardin, where Hanna Steffen placed 23rd to lead the team. Head Coach Will Reingardt says it’s a new-look team this year.
“It’s different not having a Houts or a Wardell and that’s with Izzy Houts and Rosie Wardell, and then they had sisters and stuff too,” Reingardt says. “So most definitely gonna miss those two and appreciate what they did for the program over the years. But yeah, we’re most definitely emphasizing pack running. We don’t just have that clear out front number one with the team and everything like that. So pack running is going to be very critical for us and our success. Hannah Steffen and Elise Folkerts have done a really nice job leading that varsity group so far this season.”
Bryan Munguia-Chavez placed 15th in 10:42 to help lead the boys team to a fourth place finish at Pine Lake. He and Cooper Dall have represented the varsity team with prior seasons under their belts.
Action will begin at 4:30 p.m.
