The Belmond-Klemme volleyball team will host several area teams for its annual volleyball invite on Saturday, including Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, North Butler and West Fork.
Belmond-Klemme is 6-3 overall and in recent action won 3-1 over Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Tuesday. Adasyn Lamb leads the Top of Iowa West in kills with 119 and Shaylee Aguilera is second in the conference in assists with 194.
B-K Head Coach Leigh Faaborg on tourney opponents and playing with consistency.
“We’re looking forward to several different matches and seeing some teams that we haven’t seen yet this season, including some conference teams, which gives us a good look at them for future matches too,” says Faaborg. “It is a different feel than a weeknight game in a Saturday tournament. You have to be ready to play with a little less warm up time in a different crowd setting and different time of day. For our kids, I think the challenge will be just showing up consistently throughout the day to win matches, to hopefully get us out of pool play into the championship round.”
Hampton-Dumont-CAL is 3-1 overall and enters off a thrilling five set victory 3-2 over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Thursday. Aubryee Showalter leads the Bulldogs front line with 57 kills and Abby Drier leads the defense with 68 digs.
Iowa Falls-Alden is 4-5 overall following a 3-0 loss at home to St.Edmond on Thursday. Carlea Dagel with 77 kills and Brooklyn Handeland with 119 digs both rank second in North Central Conference.
North Butler at 2-8 overall enters off a 3-1 loss at home to Osage on Thursday. Olivia Dralle with 30 kills and Rayne Becker with 42 digs entered the week as team leaders.
West Fork at 3-3 overall, in their last match won 3-1 over Newman Catholic on Tuesday. Abby Schoning with 96 assists ranks fifth in the Top of Iowa East and Brylie Hubka is the Warhawks lead attacker with 29 kills.
