The Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball team will continue North Central Conference action Tuesday at Clear Lake. The match will air on 104.9 KLMJ.
The Bulldogs (6-3, 2-1 NCC) are coming off a 3-2 outing at Saturday’s tournament at Belmond-Klemme, where they had mixed results. They’ll look to remain near the top of the conference standings, having stayed above .500 with a resilient 3-2 win over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Thursday. A key to the success has been the serving, with a 92.4 percent efficiency that ranks as the best in the conference. Head Coach Sarah Miller says serving has been an area of emphasis.
“We really have some good servers,” Miller says. “We have to be careful though on our errors because I really truly believe that serves can win games, and when you’re just giving them those free points, those are going to add up quickly, so we have to be consistent with that. We always say you know don’t ever miss your first serve, don’t miss game serve and you don’t miss a serve after timeout and there were a couple errors that we made during those things so we got to clean that up and just be continue to be aggressive with our serve, but also consistent.”
Clear Lake (5-4, 0-2 NCC) last competed at a triangular at Charles City Thursday, where they fell to the hosts and defeated Mason City. In their last conference action, they fell 3-1 at home to Webster City on Tuesday, September 10.
The Bulldogs will go for their first win in the series since 2017.
Pregame coverage will start at 7:20 p.m., followed by the first serve at 7:30.
