State Treasurer Roby Smith awarded the Miller Family of Steamboat Rock with a 1-thousand dollar ISave 529 contribution from the Iowa State Fair Giveaway.
Kathy Jo Miller’s entry for her 3-year-old grandson, Griffin, was drawn as the winner.
ISave 529 is Iowa’s direct-sold 529 plan, formerly College Savings Iowa, and offers tax-deferred growth and tax-free qualified withdrawals for all account owners.
Additionally, Iowa taxpayers can deduct up to 55-hundred dollars in contributions per beneficiary account from their 2024 state income taxes, and all withdrawals are tax-free.
Money invested in the ISave 529 plan can be used to pay for tuition, room and board, computers, textbooks and more at any eligible education institution in the U-S or abroad.
