The Aplington-Parkersburg and Dike-New Hartford cross country teams competed at Tuesday’s Starmont Invitational. In the girls race, Dike-New Hartford placed eighth with 239 points and Aplington-Parkersburg placed 16th with 360 points. In the boys race, the Wolverines placed ninth with 299 points and the Falcons placed 13th with 328 points.
AP’s Quinnlyn Schultz was the top local finisher in the girls race, placing 38th in 23:05. Dike-New Hartford’s Hanna Steffen was shortly behind in 40th at 23:12.
In the boys race, Ty Luhring of Aplington-Parkersburg was the top local finisher, placing 21st in 18:02. Teammates Jacob Michael, Elliott Bieber and Cade Drehobl each recorded PRs. Sully O’Neill led the Wolverine boys with a 49th place finish in a PR of 19:23. Gus L’Heureux and Isaiah Olson recorded PRs, and Cooper Dall and Clayton Hines recorded season-bests.
