The Iowa Utilities Commission has issued its final decision and order regarding a request from Interstate Power and Light Company, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy, to increase Iowa retail customer electric and natural gas rates.
Almost one year ago, Alliant filed with the IUC an application seeking an increase in electric and natural gas rates and requested a revenue increase of about 284-million dollars in electric rates and a revenue increase of about 14-million dollars for natural gas rates.
The IUC’s order approves a non-unanimous partial settlement agreement and resolves other contested issues in the case. There will be a reduction in the annual electric rate revenue increase to 185-million dollars, and there will be a reduction in the natural gas rate revenue increase to 10-million dollars.
The IUC’s order will increase the average residential monthly charge for electric customers from $13 to $15.50, and approved a conditional electric rate base moratorium through October 2029.
