The Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball team will play a crucial North Central Conference match when they travel to Webster City Thursday. The winner will take possession of second place in the standings.

The Bulldogs (7-3, 3-1 NCC) have played the most conference matches among league teams, and are coming off a 3-0 sweep at Clear Lake Tuesday. Head Coach Sarah Miller says the team is heading in the right direction and continues to improve with every match.

“I think our serve receive has improved since the last week,” Miller says. “I think we made some changes this weekend in our tournament and were able to execute. I think that our hitters are just becoming more confident. Our passes are good, so just all around, really a team effort from everybody and what they’re accomplishing together is really exciting. And I think they start feeding on that. And then there’s really no stopping us once we get to that point.”

The Bulldogs have put together crisp performances, and lead the conference in both kill and serve efficiency.

Webster City (7-4, 2-0 NCC) is coming off a 3-1 win over Clear Lake last week, where they served nearly 96 percent with 11 aces to pull away.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL last defeated Webster City in 2015, and has lost nine straight in the series.

The first serve will be at 7:30 p.m.
