The #14 (2A) Grundy Center volleyball team got revenge at #12 (1A) Gladbrook-Reinbeck with a 3-1 win in NICL-West action Tuesday. The Spartans won 22-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-10, earning revenge from GR’s 2-1 win at a tournament at North Tama earlier in the season.

In the first set, the Spartans led 15-9 before giving up five straight points to the Rebels. The teams battled to a tight finish, and GR took a 1-0 lead with the final two points of set 1. In set 2, the Spartans scored 10 of the first 12 points to tie the match at 1-1. In the third set, the Spartans built a 19-4 lead, but the Rebels built some momentum to make the set look closer. The fourth set was the most dominant as Grundy Center earned their quickest win of the night to seal the match.

Ryanne Brubaker led with 18 kills. Grundy Center (14-7, 2-1 NICL-W) will return to action Thursday by joining #11 (2A) Pella Christian at a triangular at Grinnell.
