The #6 (1A) South Hardin football team will play its first road game in three weeks, as the Tigers press on in Class 1A District 4 action at East Marshall on Friday.

South Hardin (4-0, 1-0 1A-4 took care of business in all three phases in a 49-19 homecoming win over Alburnett last week. The Tigers have the most rushing yards in the district with 869. Jaxson Drury leads the charge with 553 yards and nine touchdowns. Peyton Welch has remained collected in the pocket with 670 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Tigers Head Coach Nick Eller on adjustments for road matchup and defensive gameplan.

“We didn’t play the greatest the last time we were on the road. We’ve got to definitely clean that up, definitely get mentally and physically ready,” says Eller. “We need to come out and play a better game than we did last time on the road against Iowa Falls. That’s definitely going to be a little bit of a challenge at East Marshall, we’re going to get a good crowd from them with homecoming. They’ve got a really nice running back, kind of slash fullback type kid that runs the ball really well. We got to stop their running game first, make them beat us in the passing game, then we go from there.”

East Marshall (3-1, 0-1 1A-4) lost 42-6 at #1 (1A) Grundy Center in their district opener last week. Jake Farrington leads with 562 passing yards and six touchdowns. The Mustangs have been good pass coverage with eight interceptions (leads district) this season.

South Hardin has won six straight in the series, including a 55-20 win at home last season.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. in Le Grand.
