The #4 (2A) South Hardin volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep at AGWSR Thursday to move to 4-0 in the NICL-West, claiming the division championship. The Tigers won 25-20, 25-13, 25-19.
In the first set, the Cougars held leads of 13-10 and 18-15. But the Tigers scored six straight to take a 21-18 lead, and they held on to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, South Hardin used a six-point run for an 11-5 lead, followed shortly after by a seven-point run for an 18-6 lead. They finished out the widest margin of the night in the second set.
South Hardin led early in the third set at 8-2 and 12-6. The Cougars fought back to cut the deficit to 16-15, but got no further as the Tigers clamped down to seal the sweep.
Ava Salvo led the Tigers with 14 kills, and Alli Sheldahl added nine. Salvo had five aces and Abby Teske had 18 digs. South Hardin (12-2, 4-0 NICL-W) will return to action Monday at a tournament at #12 (3A) Roland-Story.
AGWSR (9-14, 2-2 NICL-W) will have over a week off before its next outing at a tournament at Waverly-Shell Rock on Saturday, October 5.
