Wolverines go 2-2 at Mount Vernon Fall Classic

The #6 (2A) Dike-New Hartford volleyball team went 2-2 against elite competition at Saturday’s Mount Vernon Fall Classic. It was the team’s second Saturday of the season spent in Mount Vernon.

The Wolverines began with a 2-0 loss to #2 (5A) Pleasant Valley in set scores of 21-14, 21-16. Izzy Norton’s five kills led the team in a match where they hit just .063 and had no aces.

They defeated #10 (5A) Iowa City Liberty 2-0, 21-13, 22-20. Shannon Moorman and Aubrey Asche each had five kills, and the team recorded five aces.

They defeated #9 (5A) Iowa City High 2-0, 21-9, 21-10 in the quickest match of the day. DNH hit .321, including seven kills by Moorman.

They finished the day with a 2-0 loss to #1 (3A) Mount Vernon, 21-16, 21-17. They had only 16 total kills in the match, led by Norton’s five.

DNH (14-11) will return to action Tuesday by hosting #1 (2A) Denver.
