Hampton-Dumont-CAL goes 0-4, South Hardin 3-1 at Roland-Story quad

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball team went 0-4 and #4 (2A) South Hardin went 3-1 at Monday’s quad hosted by #12 (3A) Roland-Story.

The Bulldogs fell 2-0 in the opener to South Hardin, 21-11, 21-14. Aubryee Showalter and Madison Heilskov each led the Bulldogs with three kills. Abby Drier had 10 digs. Emma Minteer led the Tigers with nine kills and Alli Sheldahl had four aces.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL fell 2-0, 21-10, 21-9 to Roland-Story in the most lopsided match of the night. The Bulldogs had a zero efficiency, led by Heilskov’s eight kills.

The Bulldogs fell 2-0, 21-12, 21-18 to Gilbert. Showalter, Heilskov and Addison Aalbers each had three kills.

The Bulldogs fell 21-19, 21-12 to Marshalltown. Aalbers and Heilskov each had four kills, and Drier had 10 digs.

In their second match, South Hardin was upset 2-0 by Gilbert, 21-18, 21-17. Minteer and Ava Salvo each had six kills. Abby Teske had 10 digs.

The Tigers bounced back to defeat Marshalltown 2-0, 21-12, 21-18. Minteer had eight kills.

In the finale, the Tigers defeated Roland-Story 2-0, 21-18, 21-19. Salvo led with 13 kills and the team hit .327, their best of the evening.

South Hardin (18-3) will return to action Saturday at a tournament at Greene County.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL (10-8) will host Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in non-conference action Tuesday.
