Early numbers indicate a slight increase in enrollment in the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows School District for 2024-25.
Superintendent Joe Nelson is in his fifth year at C-G-D and tells RadioOnTheGo News the importance of having an increase in enrollment.
“Tentatively, we’re up seven students, but that changes, and it’s very fluid. So you can literally plus or minus kids on a daily basis. But early numbers are, we’re slightly ahead of where we were last year, and that might seem like a small number, but boy, anytime you’re plus kids from an enrollment standpoint, that’s something that we celebrate.”
The official count date for certified enrollment was Tuesday. Nelson adds that there was little turnover in staffing at the district entering the new school in August.
“Our folks stay with us and we had a very light turnover compared to our neighbors. We only had to replace seven teachers. And so that speaks volumes to the commitment that our staff has to our students and our families. And we’re blessed to have continuity in our classrooms because we know that that is deeply behind the success we have. Our students, our families can really count on our teachers to deliver and they do that year in and year out. And for our families now to have multiple children in their house, go through our buildings and see the same familiar faces. Having success with multiple kids in their house, it’s just a great thing to watch and it’s fun to be a part of a system that is that consistent for our kids.”
