Drought conditions continue to worsen in Iowa

For the first time in at least three months, the severe drought category has shown up in the latest U-S Drought Monitor Report for Iowa.

1-point-29 percent of the state is now listed as being in a severe drought, which covers portions of Harrison and Monona Counties in the western part of the state.

In addition, the moderate drought category increased to almost 22 percent this week.

In the broadcast area, southeastern Grundy and extreme eastern Butler County are now in a moderate drought, while the rest of the area is listed as being abnormally dry.
