The West Fork football team will look to put an end to a four game slide and earn their first Class A District 2 win of the season, as they host North Union on Friday.

West Fork (1-4, 0-3 A-2) lost 48-0 at #2(A) West Hancock last week. The Warhawks will look to get their offense into rhythm after being held to 15 points or less in three of their last four games. The motor for the Warhawks offense has been their run game with 975 yards this season. Dax Suntken leads with 389 yards and seven touchdowns. The Warhawks defense has been tested in their last two two games by heavy rushing offenses allowing 210 yards and 386 yards.

West Fork Head Coach Dan Westhoff on focus areas of improvement going into their matchup with Warriors.

“Special teams have got to improve for us, they’re really hurting us. Turnovers are going to be really important too. Those two factors really stand out to me as the biggest priorities,” says Westhoff. “I would say third is just getting our back end on the defense more engaged and coming downhill harder. That’s something we’ve really been working on. Getting four starters back healthy, hopefully this week, will be huge. That’ll be a big boost. Being back home will be nice. If we can get the special teams cleaned up and hang on to the football, I feel good that we can have success Friday night. Hopefully we can get our first district win here.”

North Union (0-5, 0-4 A-2) lost 34-14 at Lake Mills last week. The Warriors offense has been limited to 12 points or less and allowed over 30 points in three of four district games. Dual threat quarterback Greyson Colegrove leads the team with 317 passing yards, 212 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

North Union won last year’s meeting 47-6, the Warhawks will look for their first win in the series since 2020.

Kickoff at 7:00 p.m. in Sheffield.
