It was a slow start, but the Aplington-Parkersburg football team responded with four second half touchdowns to defeat Central Springs 35-6 at Ed Thomas Field in Friday’s Homecoming game.

Central Springs got on the board first with a touchdown in the first quarter. Late in the second quarter, Benny Waller found Mason Pruisner for a 25-yard touchdown pass, and AP led 7-6 at halftime.

In the second half, the rushing game heated up with touchdown runs by Pruisner, Waller, Devan Eberhart and Creyton Eberhart, while Central Springs was held off the board.

Head Coach Aaron Thomas says it was a great second half.

“We really got things rolling the second half,” Thomas says. “We held them to negative 15 yards. They didn’t get a first down the second half. I think they only ran 15 offensive plays. And for us, we scored every time we got the football and we rushed for 327 yards. We were able to throw the ball for right about 80 yards. So that was huge for us just to get that much offense going and just to finish the game, and play kind of what we’d hoped we’d do the first half we build off last weekend. So credit to our guys, we challenged them at halftime and they responded.”

Pruisner had 23 carries for 148 yards. Waller was 5/14 passing for 79 yards and no interceptions.

AP (2-4, 2-1 1A-3) will be at #3 (1A) Dike-New Hartford next week on 99 The Wave.
